Wingcopter launches tactical reconnaissance drone with up to six hours of flight time
The Wingcopter 262 offers a tactical range of 150 kilometres and a flight time of up to six hours. The modular all-electric VTOL aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of just 10 kg.
- The Wingcopter 262 is designed for reconnaissance missions and persistent situational awareness across an extended tactical area of operations.
- It integrates leading AI-enabled EO/IR camera systems, data and video links, as well as positioning technology proven under real-world operational conditions in Ukraine.
- The modular Wingcopter 262 is designed for rapid deployment with minimal operator workload. Quick-swap batteries minimise turnaround time on the ground.
- Wingcopter combines an efficient tilt-rotor design with an all-electric propulsion system and a 262-centimetre wingspan, from which the aircraft takes its name.
Düsseldorf, 14 September 2026 – Wingcopter today introduces the Wingcopter 262, an all-electric reconnaissance drone offering high tactical range and endurance for defence and security users. The modular, vertical take-off and landing fixed-wing aircraft (eVTOL) provides a tactical range of 150 kilometres and a flight time of up to six hours.
These capabilities make the system particularly suited to reconnaissance missions at extended operational depth. It is designed to reach distant areas of operation and provide persistent aerial surveillance over extended periods.
The system requires no launch infrastructure and can be made mission-ready by a single operator within minutes. The Wingcopter 262 is also designed for integration into the open architectures of existing battle management systems.
The development of the Wingcopter 262 draws on more than ten years of experience in the development, production and operation of unmanned aircraft systems. Its resilient navigation capabilities enable the aircraft to operate in GNSS-denied environments.

Wingcopter expands defence offering
The product launch comes just a few months after the establishment of Wingcopter Security & Defence. The new business unit expands Wingcopter's existing activities in logistics and surveying with additional solutions for defence and security.
With the Wingcopter 262, the company is introducing its powerful platform developed specifically for tactical reconnaissance missions. As part of the “Build with Ukraine“ initiative, Wingcopter is also cooperating with TAF Industries on the mass production of Ukrainian reconnaissance drones and on making the Wingcopter 262 available to Ukraine.
